Royal Enfields with Hatz diesel engines were sold in the UK by
Charnville Classics of Coalville. In Ireland, Derek Rynhart of Rynhart
Research and Development decided to supercharge the engine. Gordon May
was able to ride one of the supercharged bikes and it efortlessly got to
70mph, some feat for a 350 diesel.
Rynhart was determined to set a
world speed record for a diesel motorcycle. Unfortunately
things have taken a turn for the worse over the last year or so.
Derek Rynhart told Dieselbike.net that he had been forced to call it
a day and wind his company up due to the fact that his superchargers
were too good.
Combustion pressures
of the Hatz 1B30 are 55bar but Rynharts supercharger put these up
to 100bar which resulted in four broken crankshafts.
The superchargers
were O.K. on the bigger 1B40 engines but still there were problems.
The engines
fuel pumps could not generate enough pressure to get the diesel
into the chambers.
It was with
these problems in mind that Hatz told Rynhart they were not prepared
to upgrade all of their engines to take account of the super chargers
capabilities.
Given that Rynhart
managed to more than double the BHP of the 1B30, this is a shame
for riders who ride 1B30 Hatz engined bikes.
No doubt there
are more details that may come out in time but those above give
the main reasons why we will see no supercharged hatz motorcycles
in the near future.

Royal Enfield showcased this concept bike in the 2010 Auto Expo and we see it showcased again. This is one concept that has been able to generate a lot of interest amongst the young and the old.
But it was unclear if the concept will ever make it into production, as a similar concept was shown back 2010 but has not seen the light of the day. But putting rest to all speculation Kevin Mahoney from Classic Motorworks who are the official OEM distributor for Royal Enfield Motorcycles in the US confirmed that Royal Enfield Cafe Racer should be in production by 2013.
"Yes, it will be available in early 2013. It is coming with 100%
certainty. I spoke to the CEO last night to confirm even though they
have told me this repeatedly," said Kevin Mahoney
So there is no need to hunt for a customizer or spend extra on a Café Racer kit. All you would need to do is go to the nearest RE showroom and book your Café Racer motorcycle.
Features of Royal Enfield Cafe Racer include classic rear view mirrors, scooped out and sculpted tank, a lot of chrome, clip-on handlebar, retro design for taillights and headlights, exhaust that reminds of the era gone by, humped leather seat, and much more.
Powered by the 500cc twin-spark unit construction design (UCE) power plant might possibly see modifications to accomodate the fact that the weight of the bike is considerably less than Royal Enfield's existing lineup.

Across the web today, many sites are blacking out in protest against two dangerous pieces of legislation ,
SOPA and PIPA. These bills, if passed as law, would give companies the ability to shut down Enfieldmotorcycles.in (and any other site, for that matter) without due process of the law should they discover something that might violate copyright. Currently, should a company take issue with something that we post (like a picture of an unreleased phone), they can send a cease and desist letter. We can then comply with the cease and desist, or we can utilize our legal counsel to defend us. With SOPA and PIPA, said companies can essentially go to a judge, provide someevidence of copyright infringement, and have the judge proceed to require our DNS to take Enfieldmotorcycles.in offline. Imagine an internet where the only thing standing between your favorite site being offline or online is a judge, who, without the full picture, makes a determination. It's dangerous to say the least, and we don't support it.
What can you do to stop SOPA and PIPA? Fortunately, our voices are being heard, and it already looks as if voting on SOPA (but not PIPA) will be delayed as the bill is retooled. But that's not enough. We need to bring to light the consequences of a censored interenet. It will change everything. A page on the
Electronic Frontier Foundation's website shows you who to contact.

Royal Enfield, the Chennai-based
manufacturer of motorcycles that exude an old world charm, has just
launched the new Thunderbird 500 today at the Auto Expo here in Delhi as reported by our undercover reporter few days back.
Launching the Thunderbird 500 at the 2012 Auto Expo, Mr Siddhartha Lal, MD & CEO Eicher Motors Ltd. said, “When we launched Thunderbird in 2002, it was a one-of-its kind model on the Indian roads that redefined the cruiser segment. Today, with the launch of the Thunderbird 500, fitted with the UCE and a host of design enhancements, Royal Enfield has again upped the ante in leisure motorcycling which we have been pioneering for over half a century in India. With touring enthusiasts forming the core of our customer base, the Thunderbird 500 gives them more power, comfort and style for long-distance riding.”
The Thunderbird’s ‘black’ engine is the first of several new styling elements on the bike. It gets a redesigned seat, new lock mechanism accessible through the side panel and true to its touring-friendly nature, it gets a separately mounted pillion seat that can be removed to accommodate luggage. The handle bar has been changed to improve the bikes ergonomics, the pillion grab rail is also new and the bike also gets bungee points to tie luggage. All the new foot pegs, new design mirrors and the LED tail lamp now have the Royal Enfield logo embossed on them.
The headlights are really important on our roads and more so for the touring folk. Royal Enfield has endowed the Thunderbird 500 with a new headlight that incorporates a 55W projector lamp for the low beam and for the high beam, it works in conjunction with a 55W halogen.
The 500 also gets two digital trip meters to keep a track of total trip mileage and intermediate mileage. It comes with a 20-litre fuel tank and it also gets hazard lamps in the switch gear, which is a first for a motorcycle manufactured in India. Rear disk brakes mounted on the new oval section swing arm, supplied by Bybre, add to the stopping power of the bike.
Enfield also showcased the Cafe Racer which is almost in final production form and will go on sale next year. Apart from the bikes on display, the Enfield stall includes biker apparel and riding accessories as well.

The
Royal Enfield Classic Chrome is based on the Classic 500 with a rather
generous dose of chrome on it. Like the Classic 500, the new Classic
Chrome retains the quintessential classic British styling of the 1950s:
simple, harmonious, well proportioned. The Chrome sports a seat with a
leather finish and adds to the visual appeal of the motorcycle. Built of
old-fashioned metal, in clean elegant lines of Chrome combined with a
rich paint finish the design of the Royal Enfield Classic Chrome is a
tribute to the retro look of post war British motorcycles.
The Classic Chrome, as the name suggest
comes with plenty of chrome on the motorcycle and is priced at Rs 1.64
lakh, on road, Mumbai.
