Royal Enfield - Charity vrooms on !!

Now here are some bikers with big hearts — Bullet clubs in the city have started organising motorcycle tours for a cause. There are hundreds of Royal Enfield riders who hit the road on the weekends, for the love of biking, and now they’ve got one more reason to ride. The Bulleteers Club is planning a Monsoon Ride to Kudremukh this month, to raise funds for the Nagarika Seva Trust, an NGO which works towards nature conservation.
“It’s going to be 325 km over three days, from June 25 to 27. We will be trekking on the second day and conducting a clean-up drive in the forest. We are planning to distribute CFL or solar lights to the villagers and each rider will be making a monetary contribution of at least Rs 500 to the NGO,” says Arvin Padmanabha, one of the founders of Bulleteer. The club expects about 60-70 participants for the event.
“Bulleteer has no club fee — everyone’s contributing from their own pockets and we plan to continue doing this. Next time, it will be a fundraiser to help the blind,” adds Arvin.

Another Bullet club, Road Veda which organised a charity ride earlier this year for Republic Day, plans to do it again for Independence Day. Founder Gautam Kotamraju says, “We had 76 riders who participated and contributed something or the other to Baalemaane girls orphanage. In fact, some even signed up as pillion riders.” Biking is fun, but why not do something for society at the same time, he adds, questioning the stereotype image of bikers. “Charity breeds more brotherhood than beer,” he says.
Another Bullet rider, Karan Bahadur who works for a city-based NGO, adds, “I have participated in these rides for charity and it makes me proud to be a biker. There are a lot of people who want to give back to the community, and this is a perfect platform to do so.”
